hmm, that shouldnt happen, usually usplash depends on default artwork
try:
sudo chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 apt-get install usplash-theme-ubuntu
or if thats already there:
sudo chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 update-initramfs -u

and afterwards:
sudo ltsp-update-kernels
to move it to the tftp server directory...
