For intrepid, this change also needs to be applied to alsa-lib (i.e.,
you need to add the appropriate definitions to /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf
in the alsa-lib source package). Note that the overriding of default
requires an additional alsa-plugins change that isn't yet in intrepid.
