I'm on a 32bit system here and don't see any issues either: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe usbserial [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsmod | grep "usbserial" usbserial 38888 0 usbcore 145520 4 usbserial,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux emiko 2.6.26-5-generic #1 SMP Sun Aug 3 01:25:54 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
Could you possibly try using a LiveCD from the latest Alpha release for Intrepid - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Does the issue still exist when running a LiveCD? The message in you dmesg output "[ 2530.801944] usbserial: Unknown parameter `#'" does seem a bit odd. I'm curious if you possibly made some custom edits to a file in "/etc/modprobe.d" or created something like "/etc/modprobe.d/usbserial" which is causing the error to appear?
