The output is still the same; Theora streams encoded with the old
encoder work; streams encoded with the new encoder show up as masses of
bright blocky color.

... and I should have just remembered that I linked to an upstream bug
before I bothered to build it myself, since it's confirmed over at the
ffmpeg bugtracker as existing in current SVN.
