Thank you for your reply. When I go to the folder ~/.mozilla/firefox/, I see following directory strcuture
cafgdq2t.default profiles.ini Considering that cafgdq2t.default is my profile, I renamed the chrome folder to chrome-old and then started firefox ( both 2.0.0.3 and 3.0).
