Public bug reported:

After upgrading to hardy the disk with my home partition was gone (so I
noticed). The other sata drive was still there however, so I switched
the cables and the drive with my home partition was back and the other
gone. My IDE disk/dvd drive work fine.

The kernel log shows that the drive is detected but failed to initialize
or something (see line 267 of kern.log)

Gutsy used another driver (via82cxxx I think). The new one does work
faster than the old one.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
