Sorry for the delay. Two questions:
1) Can you reproduce this with Ubuntu 8.04? The console subsystem in 7.04 had
a few problems, and I know we've fixed a number of things since then. If the
bug has gone away, that would be the simplest solution by far!
2) If you can still reproduce this, could you attach
/etc/default/console-setup to this bug?
