There are plenty of people who do install Ubuntu successfully to non-
first partitions, so your bug description is much too broad as it
stands.
Could you please attach /var/log/installer/syslog and
/var/log/installer/partman to this bug so that we have some basis on
which to investigate this? Thanks in advance.
