Happens to me on Hardy. steps to recreate: 1. mount a samba share (smbmount) 2. open location in nautilus, then close window. (not even really necessary) 3. pull out the LAN wire (simulate network failure) 4. goto Places>Home Folder window doesn't open up; sometimes the panels also freeze; sometimes need to reboot.
