Public bug reported:
fresh install of ubuntu 8.04.1 on a newly built computer, havent been able to
get any sound out of it at all, so im not sure if its the card as i havent
tried it with windows or any other OS, but ubuntu seems to detect the card, it
shows up in alsamixer, also i think thats it from the cat command:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf9ff8000 irq 22
the soundcard isnt an onboard card, but it came with the motherboard
(like in the same box) and has a dedicated slot to go in so it is
compatible with the mobo anyway, I dont know if thats relevant or not.
the motherboard is a ASUS P5E deluxe. The card has a few jacks and ive
tried each of them with each of the tests and ive checked the speakers
work and everything has power etc.
I've tried everything at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems
and all the extra links at the bottom, as well as a few random sites
from google and have gotten nowhere
my uname -a is:
Linux digi-desktop 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Fri Jul 11 23:41:49 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
