Hi guys, This seems like a rather nasty bug that needs to be addressed. The kernel team is actively working on the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release which has a 2.6.26 based kernel. Would someone be willing to test the latest Alpha for the Intrepid Ibex 8.10. More information regarding the latest Alpha can be found at - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing .
