Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openafs-client

Top level view: there was a half-finished attempt to rename lots of afs
things to openafs.

/etc/init.d/openafs-client looks for a kernel module named openafs.
It's really kafs.

Many of the tools and utilities reference /proc/fs/openafs.
Unfortunately, /proc/fs/afs contains the data in question.

Filename: pool/universe/o/openafs/openafs-client_1.4.6.dfsg1-2_amd64.deb
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

I expected afs to start. What happened is that I got errors like this:
--- SIGCHLD (Child exited) @ 0 (0) ---
open("/proc/fs/openafs/afs_ioctl", O_RDWR) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open("/proc/fs/nnpfs/afs_ioctl", O_RDWR) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
afs_syscall(0x1c, 0x24, 0x1, 0x7fac6e42c9e0, 0x7fff7685f560) = -1 ENOSYS
(Function not implemented)
fstat(1, {st_mode=S_IFCHR|0620, st_rdev=makedev(136, 1), ...}) = 0
mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0x7fac6e860000
write(1, "afsd: Error -1 in basic initiali"..., 40afsd: Error -1 in basic
initialization.
) = 40
exit_group(1) = ?
Process 4568 detached
