Hi pjfl, Can you confirm linux-backports-modules which provides an even newer version of the iwlwifi drivers still suffers from this issue? Unfortunately the ipw3945 project has been deprecated and development efforts have switched to the iwlwifi project - http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/ . Thus, the ipw3945 driver will not be provided for Hardy.
If you still experience issues after trying the driver from linux- backports-module, care to confirm this is still an issue with the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 since it is being actively developed at the moment. You should be able to test via a LiveCD - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing. Please let us know your results. If the issue still exists, per the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate attachment. * cat /proc/version_signature > version.log * dmesg > dmesg.log * sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log For more information regarding the kernel team bug policy, please refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Also, beginning with the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 development cycle the linux- ubuntu-modules package was actually merged with the linux kernel package. Going forward, bugs that would have been reported against linux-ubuntu-modules should now just be reported against linux. I'll go ahead and open the 'linux' task for this report so that this remains open against the actively developed kernel. However against linux- ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 and linux-backports-modules-2.6.24 this will be closed as this does not qualify for a Stable Release Update - http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .
