a first step would be to try with a new profile:
mv ~/.mozilla ~/mozilla-bork
and then launch firefox from the command line with
firefox
if it crashes yet again, please report the output it spits to the
terminal after the crash. and of course the links you followed.
are you using the proprietary nvidia driver? are you using the adobe
flash plugin (flash-nonfree)?
Note to developers: why doesn't firefox send crash reports? a bug or a
feature?
