Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
I have a Samsung Syncmaster 181T monitor with a 1280x1024 resolution.
The display was correctly detected and the resolution set properly with
Ubuntu 7.10. With 8.04 the monitor was detected and resolution set
correctly but reverted to an 800x600 monitor after reboot. I have just
tried 8.10 alpha 4 and found the following:
1. The display resolution is set correctly during installation
2. It reverts to 800x600 after a reboot
3. However, if one logs in as a guest, without rebooting, the display
resolution is again set correctly.
The motherboard is a Jetway J7F2 1.5GHz C7 CN700 Mainboard 12W TDP model
J7F2WE1G5 with onboard graphics chip.
I am not sure that my guess as to which packge is at fault is correct.
