Judging from the AppDB pages
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=99),
the crash is probably due to the copy protection; Wine can't yet handle
the weird system calls it makes. You can run the game with a crack in
the interrim.
I'm not sure which copy protection method AoK uses, but there's been
some work on the less invasive ones like safedisc in Wine
