I also experience this problem on latest Ubuntu 8.04 with both Sun and OpenJDK
Java versions.
It manifests in any scrollable Java window on an attempt to scroll it via mouth
dragging or scroll wheel. Any resizing of the window immediately repaints it
correctly (but this problem altogether makes it any Java development or usage
on my Linux box a waste of time)
I attach sample screenshot from NetBeans. (The problem exists in my application
as well as in NB itself, but NB screenshot shows it better)
Here is my system version (reported by sysInfo tool):
Running Ubuntu Linux, the Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) release.
GNOME: 2.22.3 (Ubuntu 2008-07-09)
Kernel version: 2.6.24-19-generic (#1 SMP Fri Jul 11 21:01:46 UTC 2008)
GCC: 4.2.3 (x86_64-linux-gnu)
Xorg: unknown (13 June 2008 01:10:57AM) (13 June 2008 01:10:57AM)
Versions of Java I tried it on:
One is
java version "1.6.0_0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b11)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_0-b11, mixed mode)
The other is
java version "1.6.0_06"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode)
Both JVM were used with GTK L&F and with Metal L&F - the scrolling problem is
the same.
