I have similar problem tho i have PS/2 keyboard. After Grub has loaded my keyboard comes to life. Cannot dual boot or choose anything in grub since my keyboard is dead. I tried another keyboard=same problem. I'm using Kubuntu 8.04 w/ latest updates and xp w/ latest updates (updated 2 weeks ago). After grub has passed my keyboard works just fine.
