It seams I am faced with about the same problem. My host is an almost
clean setup of Ubuntu server 8.04 LTS and guest is JeOS 8.04. When I
call shutdown in guest everything behaves as expected. Guest shuts down
and virsh list shows guest as shutdown. But when I use:
virsh -c qemu:///system shutdown lupo
Output is:
Connecting to uri: qemu:///system
Domain lupo is being shutdown
But nothing happens and guest is still up and running. If I use virsh
destroy guest gets killed. Having said that destroy is not an option as
this may corrupt database of the applications I like to run on that
server.
The xml description of my guest contains:
<features>
<acpi/>
</features>
I also recognized that calling reboot in guest does shutdown but not
restart the guest.
