I can see your point...it's just too bad Windows is the only O/S that
supports pretty much all hardware (Win XP, forget Virusta) and that
leaves us no choice but to use Windows because of it.  This keeps a lot
of ordinary folks/users (rather than engineer types) from being able to
use Linux and making it more mainstream.  That's really sad because
Linux is far better..cheryl

Ubuntu has fairly strict rules regarding backports for stability
reasons.  If they backport too much stuff, it won't be stable
(unchanging) and could easily cause regressions (break more things for
other people), so they don't do it unless really necessary.
