Binary package hint: thunderbird
Exporting preferences from a Thunderbird installation on a different OS.
Then test installing Thunderbird on a Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4+ system.
Clicking Extras -> Import -> Preferences. Thunderbird then asks to
choose the type of file from which you want to import, but the field in
which you would probably usually choose a file type is empty.
