Hi,
mbget won't work w.o. python-musicbrainz (since it imports it). And OTOH
nothing within lastfmsubmitd directly imports ctypes, so the current
recommends is right.
The problem however is, that libmusicbrainz-2.1 doesn't build python-
musicbrainz any longer, and thus this package is not available any more.
And now guess why it has been dropped: Because the package is in main,
and ctypes (which python-musicbrainz would require to work) is in
universe and you cannot have dependencies from main on universe
packages.
This is a little bit of an awkward situation, and I don't see any good
way of fixing this bug within lastfmsubmitd.
-> also affects libmusicbrainz-2.1
Cheers,
Stefan.
** Changed in: lastfmsubmitd (Ubuntu)
Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed
** Description changed:
- Version 0.32.1-1 of lastfmsubmitd recommends python-musicbrainz which is not
available for edgy from all (main, universe, multiverse, restricted) ubuntu
repositories.
- Also, mbget tools doesn't work without python module ctypes and exit with
error message "import: No module named ctypes". After installing python-ctypes
package mbget begins to work. It's need to mark python-ctypes at least as
recommended package for lastfmsubmitd.
+ The programs
+ * mbfind
+ * mbget
+ * mbsubmit
+
+ of lastfmsubmitd need python-musicbrainz to work, however this package
+ was dropped from libmusicbrainz-2.1

lastfmsubmitd package must recommend python-ctypes and need not recommend
python-musicbrainz
