I also did an "strace -r" on X, and determined that it does indeed hang
for 30 seconds in a system call, and dies of a SIGKILL immediately
afterwards. The relevant part of the log (the end) is this:

So, this hang is in the kernel module, I presume. I'm not sure how to
determine where in the kernel modules its hanging, though.
