Public bug reported:
I was using 8.04 and experienced a hibernation\suspend problem. One
Leann Ogasawara posted to that bug report that the 2.6.27-* kernel was
available for testing, and asked people posting to the bug report about
the hibernation problem to test this kernel. So, I used Alt+F2, entered
update-manager -d, and let it run, it took several hours, and after the
update, the system will not detect my Westinghouse 19" wide screen LCD
monitor, nor enable the NVIDIA drivers. I cannot change the resolution
of my monitor to anything better than 800x640, which makes the computer
basically useless. I had no problem with resolution or drivers in any
version of ubuntu prior to this.
