Public bug reported:
I installed the package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/ on a Hardy laptop and
everything was fine (even my wireless drivers are working now :) , but I
couldn't control the brightness of my monitor, thing which works with previous
kernels.
I tough this kernel was missing ACPI, (I saw that there is a separate package
for it) and I went and downloaded the source and compiled my own kernel from
the ubuntu site
(http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/linux_2.6.27-2.3.tar.gz).
I used standard Debian tools (make-kpkg and so on) to build the kernel.
Same problem. No control over the brightness :( . I hope this can be fixed.
I attached the config I used to build my kernel. ( it's the standard config of
the Ubuntu developers, just that I removed some drivers and things i wasn't
going to use.)
