Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

I’m using gedit 2.23.90-0ubuntu1 on Intrepid amd64. When I click Save,
type in the name of a directory (e.g. /tmp) into the Name: field, and
click Save, gedit becomes very confused and outputs the following
messages:

** (gedit:26283): CRITICAL **:
gedit_unrecoverable_saving_error_message_area_new: assertion
`error->domain == GEDIT_DOCUMENT_ERROR' failed

** (gedit:26283): CRITICAL **: document_saved: assertion `emsg != NULL'
failed

After that, the Save and Save As commands become disabled for as long as
the document is open.

** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
