Public bug reported:
When adding a new printer, in my case a pair of samsung printers using
the SpliX drivers, modifications to the /usr/share/cups/ path needs to
be made to add model/samsung/cms/ and cms files for those printers to
the path. This path has the following privileges:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ ls -l | grep cups
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-09-01 13:35 cups
As a result a 'normal' launch and install of the printers from System >
Administration > Printing results in the appearance of the printers in
the available print dialogs, however attempting to print to (in my case
a Samsung CLP-510 color laser printer) the printer results in the error
:
E [01/Sep/2008:16:19:28 -0500] [Job 3] SpliX Cannot open CMS file
/usr/share/cups/model/samsung/cms/CLP-510cms (2)
in the /var/log/cups/error_log file.
Workaround
To get printers to add properly I added a gksudo to the menu item to
launch the system-config-printer application/applet.
