Yes, sorry, that change was only required for Dapper -> Hardy upgrades
and can be safely dropped now starting with Intrepid.
(I included it in the previous -ati snapshot merge, but afterwards
discussed in depth with jcristau and tjaalton, and we all agreed the
change was unnecessary and should be dropped.)
