Hi Mark, Hopefully I can answer some of your questions:
1) You'll need to enable the Intrepid repository in order to install the linux-image-2.6.27-* package. If you are not familiar with how to do this I'd recommend waiting for Alpha5. You really shouldn't need to build the kernel from the git tree. However, it's great you're willing to give it a try. I assume you were using https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile which is generally a good starting point. 2) Again, you actually shouldn't need to build the kernel using the git tree. However, you'd generally want to build the most recent version of 2.6.26 if you were wanting to test. Additionally, the Intrepid repository that I mentioned above also contains a package like linux- image-2.6.26-* which should be much easier to install and test. Otherwise, I believe you should be able to use Alpha4 to test the 2.6.26 kernel. 3) It's great you mention this is resolved for 2.6.24-19. Actually since this appears to be resolved for 2.6.24-19, theoretically there shouldn't be any regressions for 2.6.26 or 2.6.27. I'd recommend just waiting for Alpha5 then to test to test for any regressions with the even newer kernel. Based on your last point (#3) let's tentatively mark this "Fix Released". If and when you are able to test 2.6.27, hopefully there will be no regression. But if there is, just post a note here and set the status back to "New". Thanks for all of your help and feedback. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- kernel param vga=0x317 causes boot fail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177731 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
