[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
It has an Intel Pentium 4 with hyperthreading and speedstep technology.
It works fine in windows and debian studio 64, but in ubuntu, it
freezes completely when the CPU goes fan goes to full.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open up firefox and start opening youtube videos. The system will freez
completely, no cursor movement, no sound output, no network traffic,
Ctrl-Alt-f1 does nothing Ctrl-alt-backspace does nothing... The fan will go on
to full, and the computer will get VERY hot. You have to hold down the power
button and reboot, there is nothing else you can do, leave it on overnight and
it will just stay like that, fan on full. It never unfreezes.
Workaround:
I turned off hyperthreading and speed step in the bios, and have not seen this
bug since.
