Well, it seems to be common practice to use 'update-initramfs -u' in
postinst/postrm scripts. None of the packages installed on my system which are
calling update-initramfs from their postinst/prerm scripts use '-k all', which
is actually considered a bug
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=439334), at least in Debian.
So this is really a problem of initramfs-tools.
Fortunately, in newer versions of initramfs-tools (already included in
Intrepid) 'update-initramfs -u' can be configured to regenerate all initrds,
