Binary package hint: lyx
On Ubuntu-8.04, I run lyx-1.5.5-1~hardy1
Some math symbols in LyX math mode, such as "\cdot" and
"\succ" do not display on the screen properly, although they do print out fine.
The "centered dot" appears as an "x" on the screen, for example. I found the
fix is to install the package latex-xft-fonts, because that has the computer
modern symbol font in it. I believe the lyx package should require or
recommend latex-xft-fonts.
