** Summary changed:

- Regression: Headphone socket does not work on MacBook Pro 3.1
+ Regression: Headphone socket/Microphone does not work on MacBook Pro 3.1 -
need to hint the module options manually

** Description changed:

- Intel HDA in 2.6.27 seems to be broken. In .26, plugging in headphones
- would automatically mute the speaker and use the headphones.
- Occasionally the state of the speakers would break, but you could toggle
- it manually through the ALSA driver's "Speaker" switch. In .27, the ALSA
- mixer controls are much less, and this option is missing, and there are
- no others to choose whether to use the headphone port or not.
+ The sound device model probing is broken in 2.6.27. As a result, the
+ sound device is missing large functionality, including any use of the
+ microphone, and headphone port.
+
+ Using the model=mbp3 option on snd-hda-intel as described here:
+ kmirror.git;a=blob_plain;f=Documentation/ALSA-Configuration.txt;hb=HEAD
+ restores the previous functionality.
+
+ Workaround: append the line "options snd-hda-intel model=mbp3" to
+ /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and reboot.
