I would like to reopen this bug report and pass any information that you
require. I have a Dell Inspiron 510m that shares the chipset (intel
855GM) and a 15" SXGA monitor capable of 1400x1050 resolution under
'other' operating systems.
I have trawled all over the web and the forums for a fix. I can only
attain 1024x768 resolution. Any higher resolutions result in either gdm
crashing out or with no perceptive change in resolution. I have tried
the i955 package, using intel driver, vesa driver, i810 driver. I have
tried setting a 'virtual' in the xorg.conf, which appears to give me
that resolution, but not within the screen (cant see all the screen only
1024x768 pixels worth).
If you want any futher system info please let me know, but my results on
all files are similar to those already posted.
