Hi Ubunteros, This week from Aug 31st to Sept 4th is the Ubuntu Developer Week. Are you interested in packaging, bug fixing, and Ubuntu developing tools and infrastructure? Please check out the programme on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDeveloperWeek . This is a series of on-line classes, free for everyone to follow and participate, at 18-23 Swiss time. It will be possible to ask questions in German or French (in dedicated translation "classrooms"). Remember you can also read the IRC logs afterwards in the case you can not follow an IRC session live.
The Ubuntu Global Jam will take place 2nd - 4th Oct 2009. This is an event where people meet up all over the world to fix bugs and improve Ubuntu. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGlobalJam It would be cool to make a Jam here in Switzerland! How and where will depend on the number of people interested and where they can travel. Please add yourself to the wiki page if you want to join: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SwissTeam/GlobalJam The Global Jam covers topics like "Collect bugs, fix them, testing, documenting and translating". I can myself offer guidance on bug fixing, testing and packaging. If you are good in documenting and translating, please join. Note that during the Jam we want to get real work done. So we will help and learn from each other but do not expect a thorough course in development from scratch. Therefore the Ubuntu Developer Week is perfect as an introduction. Of course, if the interest is overwhelming, some "classes" can be planned before or during the Jam. In the hope of seeing more Swiss contributions to Ubuntu development, see you soon! Tormod PS.
