I would like to run oprofile (http://oprofile.sourceforge.net/news/) on EC2
on Canonical's Ubuntu 8.04 images. Out of the box it does not work. The best
discussion I've found on it so far (
http://old.nabble.com/-usr-bin-opcontrol:-line-1016:-echo:-write-error:-Invalid-argument-td25897517.html)
suggests that the issue involves the dom0 kernel that EC2 is running which
of course we cannot control.

Does anyone here know differently? Can oprofile be made to work on Ubuntu on
EC2? Will a version newer than Hardy help? Will building our own kernel
help?

Thanks,

Barry
