XSane is mandatory in menu. I can't understand why it has been removed. If it is deleted, there will be a VFAQ (Very Frequently Asked Question) in forums and lists.
About Inkscape, it would be nice to include it. If Ubuntu includes a professional pixmap editor, it should include a professinal vector editor. Another application which could be include is Sound Coverter. Easy to use, based on gstreamer and programmed using pyton and libglade.
