most of the normally used server apps only open one single port and if
you either uninstall them or disable their startup you are on the safe
side. what apart from DoS-attack protection (which is nonsense on an
enduser desktop system as you can just quickly reconnect to the net in
case of a DoS) would a firewall provide here ?
