I think the user deserves some liberty to be without advertisement when he chooses to. That said, please consider the possibility of updating the default or "pinned" bookmarks in a way useful to the user first, then useful to you as a developer. Users are greatful for the existence of debian community sites, but that doesn't mean that they need to visit them more often than any other interesting websites such as whitehouse.gov or kernel.org. as long as "default" bookmarks don't support unpinning on the foremost face of the bookmarking system (i.e. the bookmarks toolbar, sidebar and menu), i think it doesn't help the user understand the concept of bookmarking usefully to display FOSS links, Community pages or what have you in that place... >
