I would love to be able to use it under Unity, but right now the
theming issue is really bothering me.
Please don't make me switch to gnome shell because of those issues :(
First, make sure you configure California with the --enable-unity
switch.
Second, many of the theme issues have been reported and I'm looking
into them. If you find any, check our bug database and, if you don't
find them, please report them:
