Pitivi does not work in 14.04 (segmentation fault at launch), and now upstream seems to have dropped it completely.
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1307746 Still Pitivi is highlighed in the 14.04 installer as "supported software" (don't know about 14.10). The installer should reasonably switch to mention an editor that works. OpenShot? As regards 14.04 there is a proposed patch attached to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/727851 That change lets you use the application, even if the windows don't get right. Possibly it would be motivated to apply that patch to the trusty version of Pitivi (but not 14.10, where it wouldn't help).
