There was something broken, I don't know specifically, seb or desrt would

I don't know why you want separate settings for both, that just becomes 
inconsistent! Although our use case in gnome-shell is likely different
to yours, minimise is somewhat redundant there, and well it easy enough to 
maximise a window without the button ;)
