Cannot close a tab in Gedit by middle clicking the tab bar

It was closed 8 years ago. I can't follow the reason why it was closed.
Closing a tab with middle clicks works in firefox and thunderbird.
I am very used to it.
My new team mate (who was new to linux) asked me about this, too.
Please listen to the newcomers reporting usability problems.
Why do you not care?
