I fail to understand all this talk of data loss.  I regularly go back a 
page or two to look at something to refresh my memory, then forward back 
to the form I was filling out to finish what I was typing, with no data 
loss.

As for backspace, I'm not sure why but I have been in the habit of using 
alt-left arrow for years... backspace just doesn't seem a very good key 
for that purpose.
