Hi The calendar in Ubuntu uses "first_weekday" in the locale to decide how to present the calendar. I live in a country where the week starts on Sunday traditionally but the standards committee decided to put Monday in the locale to be more in line with the rest of Europe.
It would be very nice if there was an option to change this under Settings -> Date & Time.
