Yep, I hit that as well 2.5 weeks ago when I started using xmir: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-system-compositor/+bug/1210798 Aside from the lack of proper multi-monitor support and that bug I haven't had any other problems or seen much difference. It has worked as reliably and smoothly as before.
