Similarly Ubuntu with OpenJDK and Tomcat is something that we run on quite a few servers and so we would value it being in main.
Additionally the impression I get from debian-java (perhaps wrongly, I don't follow it that closely) is that since OpenJDK now exists as an open source Java implementation efforts to make things work with gcj have much reduced. OpenJDK is a pain because of all the security vulnerabilities but it is a complete implementation which everything works with, gcj is not (aiui).
