Desktop machines may not be online all the time. In this case, ntp won't really work very well, and it might be better just to sync the time when a connection comes up. ntpdate works better for this case. (I'm not sure that ntpdate currently does anything when used with NetworkManager, though) I'm just trying to limit the scope of this change to server so we can get it done incrementally and in one cycle. But if somebody wants to work on the desktop end at the same time, then that's fine :)
