Unfortunately, resolved has exhibited some rather severe regressions in CNAME resolution: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1647031 I've just uploaded a revert to this change to Zesty. Once upstream fixes the bug we can turn this back on again. For reference: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/3826 Cheers, -Barry
