Same for me. I've installed KDE 3 and no OpenGL screensaver works, while compiz workd like a charm in gnome. Maybe some *GL package is missing?

Status in Ubuntu Eee: New Bug description: I am not sure if this is a bug or not but 3d seem to be really bad. No 3d screen saver and no 3d games has worked so far. However, Compiz works really great and the preview of the screen savers show nice graphics. I set the screen saver to start after one minute, but the result is still a black screen.
